Fruit Tray Tips for Beginners

There’s no denying that a fruit tray is great for a party or gathering. It’s a healthy option and it brings color and freshness to a table spread. But before you grab one from the store, read this post because they are actually pretty quick and easy to make. If you’re a beginner, then check out these fruit tray tips.

Fruit Tray Tip #1- Use fruits that have a common element.

Although I used all berries in my fruit tray, there are many other ways you can have a coordinated fruit tray. Some ideas for common elements are:

  • Use just berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries)
  • Only use melons (honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon)
  • Use tropical fruits (pineapple, mango, papaya, oranges, kiwi)
  • Rainbow colored fruit (red- strawberries, orange- oranges, yellow- pineapple, green- kiwi, blue- blueberries, purple- grapes)
  • Seasonal fruits (if it’s fall you can do apples, pomegranates, cranberries, pears, and persimmons).

If you are using pineapple, check out this post on how to cut and serve fresh pineapple.

Fruit Tray Tip #2- Make a focal point/Add a statement piece

I achieved this focal point in my fruit tray by cutting my strawberries to look like roses. FYI, I used this strawberry rose YouTube video that has an easy step-by-step guide that is totally doable. But here are a few ideas:

  • Strawberry roses
  • Pineapple crown in the middle of the tray (see this for an example)
  • Fruit dip in the middle of the tray
  • Orange spirals

I made a very distinct pattern with this fruit tray, but that don’t have to be that obvious to still have a pattern. Here are some other fruit tray pattern examples:

  • Separate the fruit by columns or rows
  • Separate the fruit into quadrants
