10 Tips for an Extra Relaxing Bath Experience

Let’s be honest, I’ve always been a shower person. Maybe because I like being efficient and busy? Whatever the reason, recently my sisters have been trying to talk me into becoming more of a bath person. I’ll admit, after seeing their relaxing bath pics and hearing their tips, I’m sold. Maybe not for an every day thing, but as a treat yourself kind of thing. And who doesn’t need a little more relaxation and self care?

10 Relaxing Bath Tips

My sisters know how to do some hardcore relaxing in the tub, so I’ve learned some tricks from them. Here are my ten tips for having an ultimate relaxing bath experience.

1. Add some milk bath mix or a bath bomb

Putting some milk bath mix (here is my DIY recipe) or a bath bomb into your water will make your bath be a more therapeutic and relaxing experience. Lavender has calming and soothing properties that make it especially good for taking a relaxing bath.

2. Use the right water temperature

This is kind of a no-brainer, but using the wrong temperature of water will make your bath not as enjoyable. If your water is too hot, then you’ll be sweating and dying of heat before you’re ready to get out. If your water is too cold, then you can’t fully relax. It may take a little trial and error, but try to find the perfect temperature setting for yourself.

3. Light candles and turn off the overhead lights

Turning off the lights, closing the blinds, and lighting some tea light candles can really help you achieve the ultimate relaxing bath experience. Don’t want to deal with actual candles? There are flameless, battery-operated tea light candles that could do the trick! Place them safely around your bathtub to create a cozy, romantic vibe.

3. Turn off the lights and light some candles. Ten ways to make your bath extra relaxing. 4. Play soothing music

If you want to create a spa vibe in your own bathroom, turn on some soothing music. You can easily find spa playlists on YouTube or Amazon Music that will clear your mind and facilitate a relaxing atmosphere.

5. Read a book/watch a show/take a nap

What helps you really relax, take a break, and unwind? Your answer may be a good book, a fun show, or a nice nap. Whatever your answer, if you can do it in the tub then give it a try! My husband’s kindle is waterproof, so it’s the perfect companion for a relaxing bath.

6. Turn off your phone

Unplug! With the constant stream of texts, emails, and news feeds pinging through our phones, simply turning your phone off (or putting it on airplane mode and out of reach) will make your relaxing bath all the more enjoyable.

7. Sip on a drink

During my hot bath, it was great sipping on some cold coconut water. Grab whatever cool drink sounds good: sparkling water, lemon water, a smoothie, etc.

9. Have your towel and bathrobe ready to go

No way do you want to be getting out of your amazingly relaxing bath and realize you forgot your towel across the room. You want to be able to immediately wrap up and dry off instead of tip-toeing naked across the cold floor. Tip #9.5: If you want to take your bath game up a notch, get a high-quality luxury spa towel (like this) or bathrobe (like this) for those treat yourself moments.

10. Set a relaxing timer if you need one

When you’re trying to relax, the last thing you want to be doing is checking your watch or phone for the time. If you don’t have all day, try setting a timer for when you have to start wrapping up. I recommend using a soothing timer sound if possible so you can calmly transition from your relaxing bath to whatever you need to do next.
