It is laundry day in the Corkin household, and, to be honest, I really don’t mind. There’s something nice about making my family’s dirty clothes look and smell great. And seeing the bottom of our white laundry hampers makes me happy! My go-to detergent these days is all® free clear laundry detergent because we have sensitive skin in this house. Seriously though, what mom wouldn’t love to know her laundry detergent is dye-free, scent-free, and hypoallergenic??
After moving from Seattle to St George, Utah, we became Walmart people without even trying. That’s where I picked up our all® free clear and all® free clear OXI laundry detergent.
P.S. Do you like my Walmart reusable bag? We are trying to bring our own bags instead of getting the plastic ones.
Here’s a Walmart tip: right now, you can spend $15 and get $5 in Walmart eGift Cards when purchasing all® laundry products! Get this special offer here! Not only is all® free clear laundry detergent our go-to for clothes, but also other washable items like stuffed animals and blankets. all® laundry detergent makes it easy and safe & it’s always there for our family!
How to Wash Stuffed Animals
Because it’s laundry day, let’s talk for a second about washing stuffed animals.
My two little kids love their stuffed animals. My son has a rabbit he named “Gicky Rabbit,” and my daughter has a lamb we call “Lamby.” My kids sleep with their stuffed animals, play with them, and sometimes even chew on them. It’s cute, but sometimes those animals get kind of gross.
Oh my goodness, like that one time we lost Gicky Rabbit…we searched the whole house and couldn’t find him, so I walked over to the park we had been playing at and looked around. There he was! In the dirt under a tree. I still can’t believe I found him.
It was a little heart-melting as a mom because obviously, my son had carefully placed him there. When asking my son about it later, he said they were playing hide-and-seek together (#hearteyes). It was super cute, but that rabbit really needed a bath! I’ve had to wash their stuffed animals multiple times, so I’ve got a good routine down. Here are my tips.
1–Use all® free clear laundry detergent
I use all® free clear laundry detergent. If a stuffed animal has stains, I go with all® free clear OXI laundry detergent.
2–Wash stuffed animals on a gentle/delicate cycle
Those little animals get enough pounding from my kids, so I want to make sure to wash them as delicately as possible. Washing machines usually have a gentle or delicate cycle that you can pick.
3–Wash stuffed animals with cold or warm water
When in doubt, I use cold water because some materials don’t do well in warm/hot water. But if you think your stuffed animals can tolerate a little extra heat, then wash them on the warm water setting.
4–Pad the washing machine with a couple of towels
I don’t want them tumbling around the washing machine alone, so I throw in a few towels with their stuffed animals and it helps give some extra padding. If you are worried about having a stuffed animal flailing around in there, you can always put them in a mesh wash bag for extra padding (I’ve also found that having a towel or two in the dryer with stuffed animals helps them dry faster).
5–Air dry if possible, or machine dry on the lowest heat available
If possible, air drying stuffed animals is always safest. I have, however, been in a pinch where I needed a stuffed animal pronto before bedtime and I threw ours in the dryer on the lowest heat setting.
Hopefully, this post has given you some useful laundry tips to make your laundry day a little better 🙂
