The 4th of July is secretly my favorite holiday! I love summer time, the fireworks, and the food that comes with the holiday 🙂 Below is some Fourth of July food inspiration.
Red, White, and Blue French Toast
This was a yummy breakfast… Need I say more?…cinnamon bread French toast, whipped cream, red and blue berries, and syrup. You can use strawberries, raspberries, pitted cherries, blueberries, or other red or blue fruits.
American Flag 7 Layer Bean Dip
Not seven layers but still. Refried beans, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and olives. Quick and easy! Just make red and white stripes with the salsa and sour cream and leave a little square in the upper left corner for your olive “stars.”
Americana Fruit Kebabs
I used a cookie cuter to cut out my watermelon stars and then just slid the blueberries, raspberries, and star onto the kebab. These took like five seconds to make and look really cute.
Patriotic Fruit Salad
If you can’t tell, I love fruit. And the 4th is a great day to use pretty blueberries and different red fruit to show patriotism. I used a little watermelon scoop (don’t even know the right name for it) to make little balls of watermelon that I mixed with blueberries. This made a cute, little appetizer.
Classic BBQ Meal
Below is what my family had for our 4th of July dinner. It’s was a simple, classic 4th of July meal… high quality sausages instead of hot dogs, corn on the cob, homemade potato logs, tomatoes, and an Americana fruit kebab.
American Flag Shortcake
For dessert, cut some pound cake into squares, layer them with whipped cream, and use blueberries and strawberries to make an American Flag. Serve it already plated or provide the toppings and let people make their own.
4th of July Trifle
This dessert takes a little longer to make but it makes a beautiful presentation. Layer white pound cake, cherry jello (pour liquid jello over the pound cake layer and let it set in the fridge), vanilla pudding (again, let this set in the fridge), strawberries/raspberries/blueberries, and then start the layering over again. At the top spread a generous layer of whipped cream and then a final layer of fruit. Serve chilled.
Happy Fourth and happy eating!
