Personal Progress is a program designed to help young women cultivate feminine attributes, strengthen their testimonies, and reach their divine potential. It’s a beautiful process of discovering talents, knowledge, and life skills that will help them in the roles now and in the future as mothers. Personal Progress is broken down into 8 values, one being Divine Nature. Divine Nature encourages young women to identify inherited divine qualities and strive to develop them. Isn’t that beautiful? We all could benefit from doing that! To complete the Personal Progress program, young women must complete a certain number of value experiences and a 10-hour value project in each of the value areas. This post will help them accomplish one of those value experiences: Divine Nature Value Experience 6.
Read Divine Nature Value Experience 6 Requirements
Develop your divine qualities. Read Matthew 5:9; John 15:12; Galatians 5:22–23; Colossians 3:12–17; 1 John 4:21; and Moroni 7:44–48. Memorize your favorite verse from one of these passages. Identify the divine qualities mentioned in all these scriptures and list them in your journal. Select one quality, and for two weeks strive to make it a part of your daily life. Record your progress and experiences in your journal.

Memorize a Verse
Keep in mind that the requirements say you only have to memorize ONE verse from these scriptures, not the whole excerpt.
Leaders: Encourage your girls to not just dismiss verses from the longer scripture printables.
Young Women: I encourage you to be thoughtful when selecting a verse. After reading them all, choose one that you feel had that biggest impression on you. Memorizing a verse means you will be able to have those words as a tool in your mental and spiritual tool belt. You will be able to refer back to it when life gets hard, when you need a boost, or when you need to regain perspective.
Select & Develop A Quality
Young Women: After you identify all the divine qualities mentioned in all the printables, list them in your journal. Then select one quality that you want to make an effort to develop. For two weeks strive to make it a part of your daily life. Here are some ideas to help you remember to develop it:
- Set alarms for yourself every day to remind you to focus on that quality
- Tape the selected divine quality and corresponding printable to your mirror so you see it every morning and night
- Tie a string around your wrist that will act as a physical reminder to work on that quality
- In your mind, recite the scripture you memorized every time you begin a meal or every time you shower and remind yourself of the quality you chose
- Keep a daily journal about how you successfully get better at your quality or about how you could have done better that day at developing it
Leaders: You can be a huge help by either texting, emailing, or checking in in-person with your young women on a regular basis. The two-week-long value experiences can be challenging for the girls. Decide to either connect with them daily, weekly, or twice a week on Sundays and mutual nights. Doing so will give your young women an extra incentive to keep up with their work.
Follow-Through & Follow-Up
Young Women: At the end of the two week period, record your progress and overall experience in your journal. You can do this online (HERE) after signing in on LDS.org, or you write in the journal section of your personal progress book. Hopefully you will have seen how the divine quality you selected has become more a part of who you are as a person. Then, have Divine Nature Value Experience 6 signed off by a leader and/or parent. Report the completed experience to your leader in charge of Personal Progress.
If you want to go above and beyond this value experience, strive to continue to develop that quality or choose another quality to work on.
Leaders: If needed, follow-up with your Young Women after the two week period is over. Remind them to record their progress and overall experience in their journal and to report the completed value experience.
