Purchase & Return Policy

Ahoy! Please read this Purchase & Return Policy if you plan to make any purchases in The DIY Lighthouse shop. These terms and conditions apply to all visitors, users, and others who purchase products or services from our website. By purchasing products or services from this website, you agree to be bound by this policy. If for some reason you disagree with any part of this policy, then you may not purchase products or services through The DIY Lighthouse shop.


Payment is due at your time of purchase.

Customized Orders

Any instructions for customized requests are due at time of purchase (e.g., color, words, etc.). Please leave instructions in the Order Notes section on the Checkout page. (If we need more information or if we need to send you a proof, we will contact you within 3 business days* to confirm your request and/or work with you until your order is what you are hoping for.)

Special Orders

Quote: If you wish to receive a quote/bid before purchasing the base payment amount, feel free to send us a message through the Contact Us page and we will work up a quote for you.

Pricing: A special order requires two separate payments: (1) the base payment for the product and then (2) a service payment to be negotiated with the seller based on the size and complexity of the materials and/or project. The first payment will be the amount of the list price, which will be collected at the checkout time. You will receive a payment request bill for the second payment amount once you and the seller have agreed on the product details and price. (See Special Orders Process section below for details.) Unless otherwise communicated, we will send your product within 7-10 business days* of receiving the second/final payment.

Process: At the time of purchase, please send instructions for customized special requests (e.g., color, text, size, etc.) in the Order Notes section on the Checkout page. We may need to send you a proof or confirmation email to make sure the order is to your satisfaction. If a proof is necessary, it will be sent within 5 business days of your first payment. (If we send you an email or proof and do not hear back from you within 14 days of it being sent, then we may delete the file and you will need to purchase the base payment amount again.) Once you give us the “thumbs up” on a proof or confirmation email, we will invoice you for the second payment amount. (See the Special Orders Pricing section above for details.) Once the final payment has been received, we will send your product within 7-10 business days unless otherwise communicated.

*Business days are Monday – Friday, excluding U.S. holidays



Many of our store products are handmade and some are even customized pieces, therefore, a lot of love and detail goes into making your item. We will try to ship your purchase as soon as we can, but expect your purchase to ship within 7-10 business days unless otherwise posted. Of course we will try to ship sooner, but we want to make sure your item gets made and packaged with the time and attention it deserves. If you have a rush job, please ask us if we’ll be able to meet your deadline, and we’ll see what we can do!

Prices shown are only for United States purchases. Please contact us for individual quotes on international orders. With international orders, you must pay all duties, taxes, and fees. Some products are only available within the U.S.


Returns & Exchanges

Your satisfaction is our goal, and we want you to LOVE your product! So if the product isn’t meeting your expectations out of the box, then you may return your purchase. Please note—returns must be put in the mail within 7 days of delivery to receive a refund.

Damaged or Defective Items

Upon receipt, if your product was damaged or seems defective, we would love to replace the item. Please email us within 7 days of receipt with a photo of the damages along with a description of the defects. You can reach us at thediylighthouse@gmail.com. We’ll send a replacement as soon as possible, and we’ll cover the shipping costs to return and replace the item.

Other Returns

Unless otherwise stated (for example, custom orders, special order purchases, or printable PDFs), you may return an item for a refund. All returns must be put in the mail within 7 days of the item’s delivery date to your shipping address.

To return your item, email us at thediylighthouse@gmail.com and we’ll send you return instructions and a shipping address. In your return box, please include the following: the item(s) you are returning, the original packing slip, and a note with the reason for your return.

When we’ve received the item(s) in acceptable condition, we can process your refund and send you a confirmation email. Unfortunately, at this time we cannot cover shipping costs for returned items; however, you will be refunded the full original purchase price.


On select occasions, exchanges can be made. If you would like to make an exchange, please contact us at thediylighthouse@gmail.com to inquire about the products you’d like to exchange, and we’ll see what we can do for you!
